Stephanie Engelhard, M.D.
Dr. Stephanie Engelhard graduated with honors in European History from the University of Pennsylvania and received her medical degree from the University of Virginia. Following an internship in Tucson, Arizona, she completed her residency training in ophthalmology at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City, where she received the Distinguished Housestaff Award and served as Chief Resident. She then completed her fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the USC Roski Eye Institute and Retina Vitreous Associates Medical Group where she served as the Chief Fellow. She is a recipient of the prestigious Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship and has published more than two dozen peer-reviewed articles in journals such as JAMA Ophthalmology, Retina, and Cornea. She has presented her research at many national meetings including the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology (ARVO).
 
Dr. Engelhard is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. 
 
Before medicine, she studied post-War East German history and received multiple fellowships to support her archival research in Central and Western Europe. She is an avid traveler, having visited and worked in nearly forty countries. In her spare time, she enjoys long walks and watching  old movies with her husband. She is proud to make Jackson her home and to care for the patients of West Tennessee.
