STEVEN L. WILLIAMS, M.D.

Dr. Steven L. Williams joined Mid-South Retina in 2018.  He completed a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal disease and surgery at one of the highest ranked vitreoretinal fellowship training programs in the country, West Coast Retina/California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, CA.  He won multiple research awards as a medical student at Columbia University, New York, NY and during his ophthalmology residency at Tufts University Medical Center/New England Eye Center, Boston, MA.  He was named Chief Resident in his final year of residency training.

Dr. Williams’ clinical and research interests include vitreoretinal imaging, telemedicine and tele-ophthalmology, medical and surgical treatments of macular disease, uveitis, retinal detachment, retinal vein occlusion, and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Williams has published 11 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on current medical and surgical retina topics.  He has presented his work at major medical conferences, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). 

Dr. Williams and his wife have two children.  When away from work, they enjoy gardening, preparing (and eating) 100% plant-based meals, teaching natural health principles, and studying sacred history.

Dr. Williams sees patients in our Memphis and Jonesboro offices.  He is fluent in Spanish.
